Kids in Golf Carts - A Good Mix?
How many of you have had close encounters with kids running around in the neighborhood and worry that it's accident waiting to happen? I would not worry so much about that if the kids just followed traffic rules in the subdivision. I don't know how many times I saw kids drive right through stop signs. All golf carts are supposed to obey all traffic rules. That way no one gets run over. Quite a few have the radios on full blast and loaded with other kids so you know their attension is not where it should be. What do you guys think? Hey Jimmy do you have these kind of problems in your neighborhood or is it loose goats?

I agree with you Rick, too many kids are operating golf carts as if they were their cars. I have seen golf carts with 6 kids, towing a skate boarder. I have had kid operated carts not obey stop signs and pull out in front of me. My parked car has been run into by a hit and run kid operated golf cart. Fortunately for me a neighbor witnessed the incident. It is a formula for a disaster. I do think that we should not restrict legitimate golfers driving to and from the course. The problem is that most of the kids driving carts are not going to the golf course. We need to enforce the law and stop this before someone gets hurt or killed.
Rick
It gets pretty bad on the weekends. We not only have to contend with kids in golf carts, but also mini-bikes, go-carts, scooters and other devices not intended to be operated on public streets. Occasionally some of the riff-raff from South Shore Harbour or Marina Del Sol will slip into the neighborhood but we try to make everyone feel welcome. Anything but a car seems to have right-of-way during Saturday & Sunday. It's okay since the residents in my neighborhood are fully aware of it and enjoy that sort of an environment. Still, there’s no substitute for teaching your child street safety and making them aware that they are at an extreme weight disadvantage. (I believe there might be a goat or two you old goat.)
